This fruity tofu smoothie is made of simple ingredients, and there is some room to be creative. Check out the list below for easy substitutes.

TOFU

Silken tofu is a great choice, as it’s a soft tofu type. It will result in a very creamy texture with little blending.

Don’t let having firm tofu though hold you from trying this recipe. 

If you use extra firm tofu you may need to blend it with milk first, before you add other ingredients. If you have a powerful high speed blender that won’t be necessary.

Tofu packs 17 grams of protein per 3.5 oz / 100g, and provides all essential amino acids. It’s perfect both for those who want to lose weight as well as build muscle mass.

FRUIT

Use fresh or frozen fruit. Be creative or go for your favorite smoothie combination.

For weight loss use berries: strawberries, blueberries, blackberries or raspberries.

For weight gain go for banana, avocado or dried fruit like dates or figs. 

PLANT BASED MILK

My favorite plant milk for smoothies is almond milk or soy milk. You can go for oat or coconut milk too, or even an orange juice for a more fruity flavor.

How to Make Best Tofu Smoothie

PREPARE TOFU

Drain and press the tofu to get rid of excess liquid if possible. If you are using silken tofu it might be difficult. Place it on a plate and wait for the liquid to gather beneath the block of tofu.

BLEND SMOOTHIE

Place all the ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth and creamy.

Serve immediately or pour into an airtight container as on-the-go breakfast.

No, tofu naturally has a very mild, neutral taste anyway, and in this recipe we are using fragrant fruits and spices. Tofu is a silent hero in this smoothie giving us creaminess and all the nutrients, while being completely unnoticed.

Is It A Good Breakfast Smoothie?

Ingredients

  • FOR WEIGHT LOSS
  • 6 oz Silken Tofu (170g)

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk

  • 1/2 cup strawberries (or other berries)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • Pinch of turmeric

  • FOR WEIGHT GAIN
  • 6 oz Silken Tofu (170g)

  • 1 cup almond milk or soy milk 

  • 1 banana (ripe, medium size)

  • 2 tsp peanut butter

  • 2 medjool dates

  • 1 tsp chia seeds

  • 1 tsp maple syrup (optional)

Directions

  • Drain tofu and press it gently to get rid of excess liquid. If using silken tofu gently strain it on a sieve or plate. 
  • Choose your ingredients depending on the version you prefer. Add everything to the blender container or food processor.
  • Blend until smooth and creamy

Notes

  • If you want to gain weight or work on your muscles you can add 1 tsp vegan protein powder.
