I usually choose ripe bananas (with brown dots on the skin) because they are sweeter. If you prefer greener, less ripe bananas it’s ok too – they have more fiber.

PLANT BASED MILK

I choose almond or soy milk for banana and apple smoothie, because of its delicate nutty taste. I like natural, slightly nutty plant milks for most smoothies.

You can also use soy vanilla, coconut, oat or cashew milk.

SOAK & MEASURE INGREDIENTS

Soaking ingredients like oats, chia seeds or dates in milk is optional, but it helps with creamy texture (especially if your blender is not very strong).

Choose the smoothie version you would like to try and prepare the ingredients.

BLEND INGREDIENTS

Blend everything until you get smooth texture.

Ingredients

  • BASE
  • 1 large banana (or 2 small)

  • 1 apple (cored, not peeled)

  • 1 – 1 1/2 cup almond milk unsweetened (or other kind: soy, oat, coconut)

  • 2 tbsp rolled oats

  • 1. Rich Choco Version
  • 1 heaped tbsp peanut butter

  • 1 tsp dark cocoa powder

  • (optional) 1-2 dates

  • 2. Refreshing Green Version
  • 1/3 cup baby spinach leaves

  • handful of fresh mint leaves

  • (optional) 2 tsp lemon juice

  • 3. Apple Pie Version
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 4. Nutrition Powerhouse Version
  • 1/3 cup frozen blueberries

  • 1 tsp chia seeds

Directions

  • Add peeled and chopped banana, cored apple, almond milk and oats to the blender container.
  • Measure and add the remaining ingredients from the smoothie version of your choice.
  • Blend for around a minute, for the ingredients to combine and smoothie to become creamy.
  • Serve immediately!
    If you serve it later you may need to stir or mix the ingredients shortly again.

Notes

  • PRO TIP – If you want your smoothie to be extra smooth – soak oats for at least 10 minutes. The same goes for dates and chia seeds.
  • If you want your smoothie to be cold, use frozen banana or add couple of ice cubes before blending.
